  In the heart of Lisbon's Baixa district, on the historic Rua dos Sapateiros, lies a culinary institution that is as rich in history as it is in flavor: A Licorista O Bacalhoeiro . This celebrated restaurant offers a genuine taste of traditional Portuguese cuisine, with a special focus on the country's beloved codfish, or  bacalhau . The name itself tells a story of two historic establishments that merged into one. "A Licorista" translates to "the liqueur maker," a nod to the space's origin in 1896 as a company producing liqueurs from national fruits.  By the 1920s, the location, then known as "Companhia Portugueza de Licores," had become a favored spot for one of Portugal's most renowned literary figures, the poet Fernando Pessoa.  It is said that one of the few existing photographs of Pessoa was taken within these walls as he enjoyed a glass of liqueur or ginjinha.  Today, a tile panel recreating this iconic image graces the restauran...
